Bulgarian consumer protection agency audits all banks over fees
The Bulgarian Commission for Consumer Protection (CCP) has launched an investigation into all banks across the country to determine if there have been unjustified increases in service fees. The audit focuses on fee changes implemented from January 1, 2025, to the present.
Inspectors will require banks to provide economic justifications for any price hikes. The investigation covers the most frequently used services, including account opening and maintenance, ATM and branch cash deposits and withdrawals, bank transfers, and debit and credit card fees. Additionally, the CCP will review monthly fees associated with various banking packages.
Results of the investigation are expected to be announced in the final week of October, in accordance with legal deadlines.
