Bulgarian Council of Ministers to discuss presidential elections and European Prosecutor selection

The Bulgarian Council of Ministers is set to discuss several key legislative and administrative items. A primary agenda item is the draft decision regarding preparations for the presidential and vice-presidential elections scheduled for October 25.

Additionally, the cabinet will address a new procedure for selecting a Bulgarian candidate for the European Public Prosecutor's Office. This follows previous disputes regarding candidate nominations and the subsequent withdrawal of candidates by a caretaker government.

Other topics on the agenda include a report on the state budget execution and the consolidated fiscal program for the first half of 2026. The Council will also review a national action plan for financial literacy (2026-2030), a national concept for regional development (2026-2040), and price reviews for services provided by state-run facilities such as hotels and dining establishments.

Further discussions will cover land expropriation for the Vidin-Medkovets railway section, additional budget transfers to municipalities to compensate parents for childcare costs, and the creation of an interdepartmental coordination council for the National Children's Hospital.
