Bulgarian couple charged with animal cruelty and pornography distribution

The Veliko Tarnovo Regional Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment in the Svishtov District Court against a 54-year-old man and woman for animal cruelty and the distribution of pornographic materials. The charges cover a decade-long period from 2014 to May 2024, involving multiple locations including Svishtov, Tsarevetz, and Bozhurluk.

The indictment alleges 81 separate acts of cruelty toward various animals, including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, mice, guinea pigs, fish, and lambs. The prosecution claims the animals were killed in an especially cruel and agonizing manner. Investigators reportedly discovered a set of torture tools at the residence where the crimes occurred.

Additionally, the pair is accused of six separate acts involving the creation, sale, and distribution of pornographic materials via information and communication technologies. The prosecution states that Anita Vachkova posed for the materials while Detelin Avramov filmed them for sale and distribution. Both defendants are currently held in custody.
