Bulgarian cultural festivals celebrate traditional crafts and cuisine

Several traditional festivals are taking place across Bulgaria. In Veliko Tarnovo, the six-day ‘Night of the Samovodska Charshiya’ festival is running from September 18 to 23. The event features various traditional crafts, homemade wines, and unique food offerings, such as ‘live chocolate’—a raw product made from cacao and honey without sugar, milk, or preservatives.

Simultaneously, the 33rd Bulgarian Plum Festival has commenced in Troyan and will continue until September 22. The program includes musical performances, culinary demonstrations, and competitions, such as a contest for the best homemade plum rakia. The festival also features a ‘Street of Crafts’ showcasing masters from various parts of the country, alongside various local contests and cultural shows.
