Bulgarian Davis Cup team meets with Ambassador in Denmark

The Bulgarian Ambassador to Denmark, Dragomir Zakov, met with the Bulgarian national Davis Cup team ahead of their upcoming World Group I tie against Denmark. The meeting took place as the team prepares for the competition scheduled for September 18 and 19 in Hillerød.

Ambassador Zakov expressed his support for the athletes, noting that their presence in Denmark is significant for Bulgaria’s international image and expecting support from the local Bulgarian community. During the meeting, Bulgarian Tennis Federation President Ivan Tikov and team captain Valentin Dimov presented the Ambassador with a signed shirt, a special flag, and a symbolic Trojan ceramic plate.

The Bulgarian squad includes Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Donski, Petar Nesterov, Iliyan Radulov, and Alexander Vasilev, with junior champion Ivan Ivanov serving as a reserve. The outcome of the tie is critical: a victory would see Bulgaria return to the Davis Cup World Group, while a loss would require them to play in February to maintain their position in World Group I.
