Bulgarian Deputy Parliament Chairman outlines legislative priorities
Ivan Angelov, Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian National Assembly and member of Progressive Bulgaria, has outlined a legislative agenda focused on judicial reform and economic stability. A primary goal is to accelerate the adoption of laws required to secure funding from the Recovery and Resilience Plan, which he described as a vital resource for the state and society.
Regarding economic policy, Angelov confirmed that work has already begun on the 2027 budget, noting it will differ significantly from previous versions. He explicitly rejected claims from the opposition that the minimum wage would decrease, stating instead that the minimum wage is set to increase in 2027. The aim is to reach 60% of the median wage to ensure dignified living standards.
Additionally, the legislative session will address the selection of a new Supreme Judicial Council and efforts to stabilize market prices by curbing speculative practices. Angelov also noted the creation of a new structure to address rising road traffic accidents and improve road safety culture.
