Bulgarian Embassy vehicle arson indictment filed in Skopje

A public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption has filed an indictment against an individual for threatening persons under international protection. The charges stem from an incident on June 15, where the accused allegedly set fire to vehicles parked in front of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Skopje.

According to the indictment, the individual filled a plastic bottle with gasoline at a nearby petrol station before approaching the embassy. The accused then doused and ignited vehicles used by the Bulgarian military attaché and other embassy employees.

The prosecutor has also requested the continuation of the defendant's previous detention, citing concerns that the individual might become unavailable to law enforcement and obstruct the criminal proceedings. Under the Criminal Code, the offense carries a prison sentence of at least one year.
