Bulgarian emergency services conduct disaster preparedness activities
Emergency services in Bulgaria are conducting various activities to improve disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
In Varna, firefighters from the First District Fire Safety and Population Protection Service held an information campaign at Geo Milev Secondary School. The initiative, held in observance of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, focused on educating students about responding to fires, floods, storms, and earthquakes.
In Stara Zagora, the municipality organized a large-scale emergency drill at the Stroyproekt site. The simulation involved a warehouse fire, an evacuation of officials, and search-and-rescue operations. The exercise included participation from the police, fire services, emergency medical teams, and voluntary formations to test reaction times and inter-agency coordination during simulated emergencies.
