Bulgarian film productions reach European Film Awards shortlist
Three film productions involving Bulgarian participation have been included in the shortlist for the 2027 European Film Awards. These include ‘Black Money for White Nights’ by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov, ‘Ice Land’ by Amanda Kernell, and ‘The Dreamed Interlude’ by Valeska Grisebach.
In addition to the European Film Awards recognition, several film festivals are highlighting major works. The Cinemanía 2026 festival in Sofia will feature ‘Black Money for White Nights’ and ‘Ice Land’ as key highlights, while also introducing a new section titled ‘The Young Speak’ to support emerging talent.
Meanwhile, the CineLibri international film and literature festival in Plovdiv is set to begin on October 23. A major highlight of its program is the film ‘The Black Ball’, a co-production between Italy and France that has received acclaim at Cannes, Toronto, and San Sebastian.
