Bulgarian filmmakers critique political division and election culture

Director Viktor Bozhinov and producer/screenwriter Borislav Chuchkov have commented on the state of political division and the lack of trust in politicians in Bulgaria. Bozhinov noted that instead of seeking a unifying figure during elections, the society tends to deepen existing divides, potentially leading to the selection of a "divider" rather than a unifier.

Chuchkov described the current political landscape as a "tragicomedy with powerful horror movie details," criticizing the low quality of discourse within the National Assembly. He expressed concern that the language used by representatives is unsuitable for a high-level institution and serves as a poor example for younger generations. The two also discussed how political messaging is increasingly being presented through cinematic plots and social media short videos, which may distract from the actual substance of political issues.
