Bulgarian First League clubs unite to demand new TV‑rights deal

Fifteen of the sixteen clubs in Bulgaria’s top football division have signed a joint declaration demanding a renegotiation of the league’s television‑rights contract. The declaration, submitted by Botеv Plovdiv on behalf of the clubs, argues that current revenues are far below the market value and call for higher guaranteed payments, performance‑based bonuses, and direct club participation in future negotiations. The only club that did not sign is PFC Slavia Sofia.

The clubs warn that, if their concerns are not addressed, they may pursue collective actions such as a boycott of matches, alternative broadcasting platforms, or direct talks with other media operators. The broadcaster holding the current rights, Nova Broadcasting Group, has reportedly refused to attend a meeting with the clubs and the Bulgarian Football Union, prompting accusations of disrespect and a lack of constructive dialogue.
