Bulgarian Football Union to discuss Silvinho coaching role
Georgi Ivanov, president of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU), is scheduled to meet with Brazilian coach Silvinho in Milan next week. The meeting aims to determine if Silvinho will accept an offer to lead the Bulgarian national team, a matter that will be discussed by the BFU Executive Committee this coming Monday. While both parties reportedly wish to work together, financial terms remain a potential hurdle.
In the interim, Atanas Ribarski will remain the temporary head coach of the national team until the end of the year. Ribarski is set to lead the team through its remaining Nations League fixtures against Iceland and Estonia in mid-November. The BFU leadership decided to retain Ribarski due to positive feedback from players regarding the team atmosphere and his recent victory over Luxembourg, as well as the cost-saving benefit of delaying a permanent appointment until January 2027.
