Bulgarian Football Union tournament faces delays
The Bulgarian Football Union (BFS) is unlikely to launch its proposed new tournament during the upcoming international break. The competition was intended to fill the extended three-week hiatus between September 21 and October 8, created by the unification of the September and October FIFA/UEFA windows.
Several obstacles currently prevent the tournament's implementation. Clubs in the First League have not yet received official notification, and key participants are unavailable; Ludogorets has reportedly declined to participate, while CSKA and Levski Sofia face congested schedules due to their involvement in the Conference League and Europa League. Additionally, the BFS has not yet secured a television broadcasting agreement or a general sponsor to fund the event.
Dobrin Gyonov, Deputy Executive Director of the BFS, stated that an announcement will be made soon, advising stakeholders to “have a little more patience” and noting that details are outlined in the regulations.
