Bulgarian Interior Minister reports peaceful elections
Bulgarian Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev stated that recent elections proceeded calmly, without significant attempts at vote-buying or manipulation. He noted that machine voting functioned without issues and helped reduce common irregularities observed in previous years.
Acting Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Lyubomir Nikolov reported that 192 specialized police operations were conducted. Authorities received 242 signals, resulting in the formation of six pre-trial proceedings. Most signals originated from Northwest Bulgaria, specifically Montana and Vratsa, as well as the Burgas region.
Nikolov described these as the calmest elections in his 25-year career. While some issues arose in municipalities where partial local elections were also held, the overall process was deemed stable.
