Bulgarian Interior Minister requests tax probe into Delyan Peevski's flight costs

Bulgarian Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev has requested the National Revenue Agency (NAP) to investigate significant flight expenses attributed to Delyan Peevski, the chairman of the DPS parliamentary group. The Ministry of Interior reports that based on 36 invoices, the value of these expenses is approximately 5 million euros.

The request follows public statements made by Peevski, who claimed that he and his family paid for his flights and that he possesses all necessary documentation. The Ministry is seeking a verification of the actual amount paid, the period during which these expenses occurred, and the source and origin of the funds. Additionally, authorities aim to determine if there is a discrepancy between the declared income, existing assets, and these expenditures, and whether the funds constitute taxable income or were paid by a third party.

Peevski has dismissed the allegations as “fabrications” and indicated he would contact the prosecutor's office in response.
