Bulgarian MP Kalin Stoianov accuses Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev of PNR misuse

Deputy Kalin Stoianov of the DPS party filed a complaint with Chief Prosecutor Vanya Stefanova against Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev. Stoianov alleges that Demerdzhiev improperly used the Passenger Name Record (PNR) system to produce manipulated travel data on DPS leader Delian Peevski and to pressure prosecutors ahead of a possible appointment as chief prosecutor.

Stoianov claims the PNR system, which is meant for terrorism‑related investigations, was accessed for 81 persons, companies and relatives without proper authorization. He demanded explanations from Demerdzhiev, the head of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) Stanchov, and the head of the GDBOP, Martin Zlatkov, and said partner services and European institutions would be notified.
