Bulgarian MP to attend Iva Mihailova court hearing in North Macedonia

Bulgarian MP Elizaveta Belobradova has announced her intention to attend a court hearing in Kočani, North Macedonia, for the case involving Bulgarian citizen Iva Mihailova. The hearing is scheduled for August 31.

Mihailova is facing charges related to a road safety incident involving a fatal accident that occurred in October. Her family and supporters have raised serious concerns regarding her health and legal rights. According to her mother, Hristina Mihailova, Iva's medical condition is critical, involving risks of permanent disability and paralysis, and she requires specialized treatment that may not be available in North Macedonia.

Concerns have been raised that Mihailova is unable to seek necessary medical care in Bulgaria because her documents were seized by authorities following the accident. Supporters are calling for her right to a fair trial and the possibility of undergoing surgery in Bulgaria before continuing the legal process. In Sofia, protests have been organized by the NGO 'Foundation Macedonia' to advocate for her right to emergency medical treatment.
