Bulgarian municipalities demand urgent road infrastructure repairs
Local authorities in Bulgaria are calling for urgent state intervention to address critical road infrastructure issues. The Mayor of Botevgrad has formally requested state funding for the repair of the Arabakonak Pass. The mayor emphasized that this route serves as a vital alternative for national traffic between Northern and Southern Bulgaria, particularly when congestion occurs on the Hemus Motorway due to ongoing tunnel repairs.
Simultaneously, the Mayor of Sofia is urging the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) to begin major repairs on a bridge near Bulgaria Boulevard. Despite a Supreme Administrative Court ruling confirming the agency's responsibility for the repairs, the project has not yet commenced. The Sofia Mayor noted that while the municipality handles immediate maintenance and winter clearing, the API remains responsible for major reconstruction and structural repairs.
