Bulgarian officials discuss infrastructure projects in Veliko Tarnovo

Veliko Tarnovo Mayor Daniel Panov met with Prime Minister Rumen Radev and Minister of Regional Development Ivan Shishkov to address critical infrastructure issues in the region. The discussions focused on four primary concerns: the Trapezitsa landslide, the Prisovtsi bends, the construction of the Northern road junction, and the necessary major repairs to the tunnels at the city entrance from Ruse.

Minister Shishkov provided updates on the status of these projects. A public procurement process has been announced for the permanent stabilization and restoration of the Trapezitsa landslide. Major repairs for the tunnels are slated for the 2027 budget. The Prisovtsi bends are currently in the initial design phase, with construction readiness expected by mid-2027, while the Northern road junction is expected to be ready for construction by mid-2025.

The meeting also addressed national commitments to prioritize the completion of the Hemus motorway and the accelerated construction of the Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo motorway, including its extension to Makaza. The government aims to have all major infrastructure projects without existing designs ready for construction tenders by the end of 2027.
