Bulgarian officials visit Spain to exchange water sector expertise

Pavleta Pelovska, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, led a working visit to Valencia, Spain, to explore innovative solutions for the water and sewerage (ViK) sector. The delegation included representatives from 15 Bulgarian water operators.

The visit was conducted under the ‘Digital Europe’ strategy, which is managed in Bulgaria by the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation to fund projects within the water industry. During the visit, officials met with Spanish companies to discuss international experience, software capabilities, and technological opportunities.

Deputy Minister Pelovska emphasized that the strategic partnership with Spanish counterparts will serve as a foundation for sustainable digital transformation in Bulgaria. She noted that modernizing the nation's water infrastructure requires advanced network management, system monitoring, and informed operational decision-making, stating that digital transformation requires not only technology but also vision, leadership, and prepared teams.
