Bulgarian party denies Denkov presidential candidacy

The political party ‘We Continue the Change’ (PP) has denied rumors that it intends to nominate Nikolay Denkov for the upcoming presidential elections. Instead, reports suggest the democratic coalition is moving toward supporting former caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov.

According to sources, Gyurov is expected to officially announce his candidacy on August 25. This follows statements from Atanas Atanasov, former leader of DSB, who identified Gyurov as a unifying figure for the democratic community. While PP leaders have remained cautious in their public comments, an initiative committee to support Gyurov’s candidacy is reportedly being organized.

Radan Kanev, leader of ‘Yes, Bulgaria’, has emphasized that the nomination should stem from a strong initiative committee rather than direct party leadership to ensure broader public support and present a serious alternative to other candidates.
