Bulgarian police launch specialized operations in Sofia and Ruse

Police forces in Bulgaria have launched specialized operations across the Sofia and Ruse regions to prevent crimes against political rights, combat conventional crime, and maintain public order.

In the Sofia region, the operation has resulted in 12 detentions within the first four hours, including three individuals in Botevgrad suspected of theft. Authorities inspected 443 vehicles, 554 individuals, 22 commercial sites, 9 casinos, and several fast-loan and pawn shops. Additionally, inspectors in Samokov seized 14.75 kg of expired animal-based food products.

In the Ruse region, police, gendarmerie, and economic crime units have established checkpoints to monitor vehicles and individuals. The operation specifically targets violations of electoral legislation and domestic crime. Authorities stated that these intensified security measures will continue throughout the election process to ensure public safety and legal compliance.
