Bulgarian police report high numbers of traffic violations in Targovishte and Razgrad
Police in Bulgaria have reported significant numbers of traffic violations following recent enforcement operations in the Targovishte and Razgrad regions.
In Targovishte, a specialized preventive campaign titled ‘Lights and Noise’ conducted from August 7 to 31 resulted in 224 violations of the Road Traffic Act. During the operation, officers inspected 3,299 motor vehicles, focusing on lighting systems, noise suppressors, and unauthorized structural modifications. The most frequent offenses included faulty or non-compliant lighting (119 cases) and improper use of lights (98 cases). Authorities issued 799 fines and 33 administrative violation reports.
In Razgrad, police recorded nearly 3,000 violations within a single week from August 24 to 30. This included 1,447 speeding offenses detected via technical equipment and 1,026 electronic fines. The crackdown also identified three drivers operating under the influence of alcohol and three unlicensed drivers. During this period, three traffic accidents occurred in the region, resulting in five injuries.
