Bulgarian political leaders discuss presidential election candidates

Political discussions regarding the upcoming Bulgarian presidential elections are intensifying, with focus shifting toward potential candidates. Radan Kanev, leader of DSB, identified Andrey Gyurov as the expected candidate, noting that his candidacy is expected to be a civic rather than a party-driven movement.

Former MP Nastimir Ananiev expressed concerns that if political leaders rush to endorse Gyurov prematurely, it might limit his appeal to the core supporters of the PP-DB party, potentially preventing him from reaching a runoff. Ananiev predicted a runoff election and noted that the upcoming budget could significantly influence voter behavior. He also challenged Boyko Borisov to reveal if GERB will field a candidate, suggesting that hesitation from the party leader may stem from political uncertainty.
