Bulgarian politician Ivaylo Mirchev discusses presidential elections and infrastructure costs

Ivaylo Mirchev, co-chairman of the 'Da, Bulgaria' party, has cast his vote in the presidential elections, stating he is voting for a leader who will maintain Bulgaria’s position within the EU and NATO. Mirchev emphasized that the president should act as a corrective force to the government rather than a collaborator, ensuring the country remains active in international strategic meetings rather than being isolated.

Mirchev also criticized a recent infrastructure deal for a 2.7 km section of the Struma motorway, which is valued at 108 million euros. He described the cost of approximately 40 million euros per kilometer as an 'absolute record,' suggesting the price is unjustifiable. He further remarked that while political faces have changed, the underlying companies involved in such deals remain the same, calling for stricter adherence to the law to ensure no individuals are above it through personal connections.
