Bulgarian politicians clash over social media trolls and security expertise

Bulgarian political figures are engaged in a heated dispute regarding social media conduct and political expertise. Slavi Trifonov, leader of 'There Is Such a People', criticized Ivo Mirchev, alleging that Mirchev and an army of trolls have turned social media into a field of hate. Trifonov claimed that some trolls had even offered to work for him for payment to target his political opponents.

This commentary follows remarks made by Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov in Parliament, who accused Mirchev of using troll armies to distort public debate and drive Bulgarians away from social media platforms.

Separately, discussions regarding national security expertise have surfaced, specifically criticizing Georgi Kandev for allegedly confusing the 1994 Budapest Memorandum with the Minsk agreements regarding Ukraine. Critics argue these inaccuracies undermine his credibility as a security expert in the context of geopolitical challenges.
