Bulgarian Presidency criticized over Cyrillic domain and typography
Bozhidar Bozhanov, co-chairman of the 'Da, Bulgaria' party and former Minister of Electronic Governance, has criticized President Iliana Iotova regarding her campaign focus on the Cyrillic alphabet. Bozhanov pointed out a contradiction in the President's stance, noting that while she has complained during election events about the dominance of the Latin alphabet in digital communications and emails, the Presidency's official website does not utilize a Cyrillic domain name (such as 'президент.бг').
Furthermore, Bozhanov alleged that the Presidency's website uses the Soviet version of Cyrillic characters rather than the specific Bulgarian typographic form. He argued that despite her long tenure as Vice President and President, the institution has not implemented the standards for Bulgarian Cyrillic usage that he previously advocated for during his time in government.
