Bulgarian President Rumen Radev says Ukraine aid exhausted at NATO summit in Ankara

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev arrived in Ankara with his delegation, including the foreign minister and defence minister, and was received with honours at the airport. He attended the NATO summit in the Turkish capital, where he addressed journalists and other world leaders.

Radev told the press that Bulgaria has depleted its military stockpiles for Ukraine, having supplied 13 aid packages and now lacking further weapons or ammunition to deliver. He said the country will continue to support Ukraine within its limited capacity and called on EU member states to increase defence spending to meet NATO’s 5% of GDP target. Radev also highlighted Bulgaria’s strategic role in the Black Sea region and urged investment in cyber‑security and digital resilience.

In addition, he voiced support for the right of self‑determination for Greenland’s inhabitants and warned of the risks of escalating international tensions, urging diplomatic efforts for lasting peace.
