Bulgarian presidential elections likely to head to runoff

The race is beginning to take shape with candidates such as Andrey Gyurov and Georgi Kandev officially entering the contest, while the potential vice-presidential candidate for incumbent Iliyana Yotova is expected to be announced soon.

A central uncertainty remains the participation of the GERB party. Analysts suggest that if GERB chooses not to field a candidate, Andrey Gyurov could become the primary challenger for a runoff position.
