Bulgarian propane-butane prices expected to drop by 4-5 cents
Propane-butane prices in Bulgaria are expected to decrease by approximately 4 to 5 cents per liter, according to Svetoslav Benchev, chairman of the Bulgarian Petroleum and Gas Association. The exact amount of the reduction will depend on the new monthly international quotation for propane-butane.
Benchev addressed ongoing inspections by the Commission for Consumer Protection regarding potential unjustified fuel price increases. He explained that the margin at gas stations, estimated between 10 and 15 cents, covers essential operational costs such as distribution, wages, electricity, and facility maintenance.
Regarding the 34.5% increase in fuel prices over the past year, Benchev cited heightened tensions in the Black Sea as a major factor. These conditions have significantly increased insurance costs and crude oil transportation expenses. He noted that for a Brent crude price of $104 per barrel, an additional $20 to $25 per barrel is required to cover these logistical and operational overheads.
