Bulgarian public figures endorse presidential candidates

As the presidential elections approach in Bulgaria, public figures are beginning to announce their endorsements for various candidates. Titi Papazov, a member of Iliyana Yotova’s initiative committee, has publicly declared his support for her, stating that he stands behind her name and authority. Papazov noted that popular figures can help attract additional public support to a candidacy.

In contrast, banker Levon Hampartsoumian has expressed support for the tandem of Andrey Gyurov and Georgi Kandev. Hampartsoumian argued that Gyurov represents a necessary generational change in Bulgarian politics, bringing a pro-European orientation. He also defended Georgi Kandev’s candidacy for vice president, asserting that Kandev’s professional background and training at an American police academy provide sufficient preparation for the role despite criticisms regarding his foreign policy experience.
