Bulgarian retailers expect price hikes amid declining business climate
Retailers in Bulgaria are anticipating further price increases in the coming months, according to data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI). While some wholesalers plan to maintain or reduce prices, the overall business climate in the retail sector is deteriorating, dropping from 27.2% to 26.1% in August. Key challenges facing businesses include an uncertain economic environment, intense competition, and labor shortages.
In response to price volatility, a community-led initiative has launched an interactive 'Map of Businesses with Normal Prices.' This platform, organized by the Facebook group 'The Euro in Bulgaria – Boycott of Bold Prices,' aims to help consumers find affordable alternatives across the country. The map highlights businesses in various sectors, such as food and household goods, that maintain fair pricing policies, with a specific focus on locations in Plovdiv.
