Bulgarian State Railways passenger detained after train dispute

A dispute between a passenger and Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) staff on the Varna-Shumen train line resulted in a police intervention on September 20. The incident began during a ticket inspection when a passenger spilled beer on a seat.

According to BDZ Security Department Head Todor Todorov, the passenger refused a request from the conductor to clean the spill and subsequently became aggressive, issuing insults and threats and pushing staff members. The train was stopped at Topoli Station to await police arrival, and the passenger was detained. The fine for the spilled beverage is 5 euros, which the individual reportedly refused to pay.
