Bulgarian students win four medals at International Economics Olympiad in Shenzhen
Four Bulgarian pupils earned medals at the International Economics Olympiad (IEO 2026) held in Shenzhen, China from 12 to 20 July. The competition attracted participants from 56 countries, and Bulgaria finished 13th in the overall team ranking, the highest among European teams except Switzerland.
Silver medals were taken by Sara Ilieva (12th‑grade student at the National Natural‑Mathematical High School "Acad. Lyubomir Chakalov") and David Livshits (11th‑grade student at Sofia Math High School "Paisiy Hilendarski"). Bronze medals went to Hristo Koev (12th‑grade at "Atanas Radev" High School, Yambol), Ivelin Neev and Alex Georgiev (both from "Paisiy Hilendarski" High School). The team was led by head coach Yordan Tzanov, assisted by macroeconomics instructor Nataliya Borisova and microeconomics‑finance instructor Veselin Marinov, who also competed in the 2025 edition. The Ministry of Education and Science provided financial and organisational support for the Bulgarian delegation.
