Bulgarian Transport Minister Georgi Peev addresses EU transport innovation

Bulgarian Transport Minister Georgi Peev participated in an informal meeting of EU transport ministers in Dublin to discuss digitalization, road safety, and fuel crisis mitigation.

Peev emphasized that technological advancements, particularly connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV), must be implemented gradually under clear regulations to ensure safety. He proposed the potential creation of a specialized European agency to oversee new technologies and assist in legislative adaptation.

Regarding energy security, Peev advocated for coordinated EU actions to maintain transport connectivity and the competitiveness of European carriers. He also highlighted the importance of investing in clean technologies and decarbonization to reduce external energy dependencies, describing such steps as a matter of security.
