Bulgarian truck crash kills Romanian couple in Braila county

Two Romanian spouses were killed when a trailer from a Bulgarian‑registered truck detached and struck their car on national road 22 near Movila Miresii in Braila county on Monday evening. The 58‑year‑old Bulgarian driver lost control of the trailer, which entered the opposite lane and hit the car driven by a 61‑year‑old woman, who was traveling with her 66‑year‑old husband. Emergency crews were unable to revive the victims.

Police testing showed the driver had not consumed alcohol or illegal substances. Authorities have opened a criminal investigation for involuntary manslaughter and are conducting a technical examination of the vehicle to determine why the trailer became detached.
