Bulgarian-Turkish border crossings face heavy truck congestion

Significant truck congestion is reported at Bulgarian border crossings with Turkey. At the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint, a queue of approximately 18 kilometers has formed. This buildup is attributed to ongoing reconstruction work at the border crossing, which has reduced daily processing capacity by an average of 30%. Customs reports indicate that while approximately 2,100 trucks were processed in a 24-hour period, this is a notable decrease from the nearly 3,000 trucks handled prior to the repairs.

Additional congestion is noted at the Lesovo border crossing, where queues exceed 7 kilometers. The narrowness of the road at Lesovo has increased the risk of accidents.

Other regional traffic updates include road repairs on the Trakia motorway and closures on various routes, such as the road between Rudozem and Smolyan, which remains closed to all vehicles until September 30. Furthermore, low water levels on the Danube have caused the temporary suspension of the Oryahovo–Becket and Svishtov–Zimnice ferry connections.
