Bulgarian TV host Slavi Trifonov attacks president and prime minister over budget and security moves
Slavi Trifonov, leader of the political party ‘There Is Such a People’, used Facebook to denounce President Iliana Yotova and Prime Minister Rumen Radev for backing a new state budget. He described the budget as a “hypocritical deal”, pointing to an additional €3 billion without clear allocation and a new €10 billion debt that he says breaches Bulgaria’s public‑finance law.
In a separate post, Trifonov criticised the decision to station U.S. tanker aircraft at the Bezmer air base and complained about the lack of information on the so‑called “Petrohan case”. He accused Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev of remaining silent and referenced allegations that funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan were being misused. Trifonov called on the government to honour its promises and listen to dissenting voices.
