Bulgarian volleyball teams secure World Championship spots

Bulgarian national volleyball teams have secured significant milestones in international competition. The women's national team has qualified for the 2027 World Championship, to be held in the US and Canada, thanks to their 29th position in the FIVB world rankings.

The men's national team, currently ranked 9th in the world, has also secured a spot in the 2027 World Championship in Poland. Their performance in that tournament and their continued world ranking will be critical factors in their pursuit of an Olympic quota for the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

Additionally, the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) highlighted the massive spectator interest during EuroVolley 2026 matches held in Sofia. Several matches hosted in the Bulgarian capital, including Bulgaria vs. Poland, ranked among the top ten most attended matches of the tournament. The Bulgaria-Poland match set a record with 13,186 spectators, making it the most-watched show of the European Championship this year.
