Bulgarian Water Holding names new board and chief executive

The state‑owned Bulgarian Water Holding (Български ВиК холдинг) has been placed under interim management until a public tender is held. Its governance structure has been changed: the previous Management and Supervisory Boards are being replaced by a single Board of Directors.

Engineer Venelin Shakov, a graduate in water supply and sewerage with over 20 years of experience in infrastructure projects, has been appointed executive director of the holding. The new board includes Lyubomir Bonev, Manol Genov, Plamen Manolov and Yavor Stoychev, with Plamen Manolov, a lawyer with a master’s in economics, serving as chairman. The decree also notes the backgrounds of the appointed members, highlighting their roles in municipal architecture, construction, finance and law.

The interim arrangement will remain in effect until the competitive selection process for permanent leadership is completed.
