Bulgarian weightlifter Angel Rusev warns of preparation crisis

Six-time European weightlifting champion Angel Rusev has raised alarms regarding the critical state of preparation for the Bulgarian national team ahead of the upcoming World Championships in China. With approximately one and a half months remaining before the competition, Rusev reported a lack of training camps and uncertainty regarding financial support.

In a public statement, Rusev emphasized the difficulty athletes face in maintaining high-level training while simultaneously supporting their families and managing personal expenses without clear funding. While expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for previous assistance during the European Championships in Georgia, he called for concrete actions and a clear plan to ensure athletes can represent Bulgaria effectively.
