Bulgarian wholesale food prices rise as tomato and milk costs surge

Wholesale food prices in Bulgaria have seen significant fluctuations, according to data from the State Commission on Exchange and Traded Goods. Tomatoes experienced the most substantial increase, with wholesale prices jumping 27.55% to reach 1.25 euro per kilogram. Fresh milk also saw a sharp rise of 26.96%, reaching 1.46 euro per liter.

The overall wholesale market index rose by 0.4%, moving from 2.275 to 2.284 points. Other notable price increases include zucchini (up 11.69%), flour type 500 (up 7.69%), butter (up 6.12%), and sugar (up 4.6%).

Conversely, several products saw price decreases. Lemons dropped by 12.62% to 1.80 euro per kilogram, while green and red peppers decreased by approximately 10%. Other items showing lower prices include onions, cucumbers, potatoes, peaches, and rice.
