Bulgaria's Athletics Team Heads to European Championships in Birmingham

Bulgaria will be represented by six athletes at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, scheduled for 10‑16 August. Veteran triple jumper Gabriela Petrovă, who has 20 years of experience, will compete in the women's triple jump alongside Alexandră Nacheva. The men's triple jump team is led by bronze‑medalist Bozhidar Sarböyukov, while sprinter Hristo Iliev will run the sprints. Kristen Radukanova will contest the 200 m and Marinela Ninea will run the marathon, which finishes in Victoria Square after eight 5‑km laps through the city centre. Ninea, a seasoned marathoner with a personal best of 2:37:31 set in 2024, has recently posted a 2:42:10 at the Varna Marathon, confirming her form ahead of the championships.
