Bulgaria's CCP to monitor Burgas accommodation prices ahead of Eurovision 2027

The Bulgarian Commission for Consumer Protection (CCP) has announced it will monitor accommodation offers and services in Burgas ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2027. The decision follows reports of unusually high rental prices, including a single apartment listed for approximately 118,000 euros per week.

CCP Chairman Alexander Kolyachev described the extreme pricing as “comical,” noting that while price increases are normal during periods of high demand and limited supply, the region maintains a large bed capacity of over 200,000 people. The regulator intends to investigate potential violations of consumer protection laws, specifically regarding how price changes are advertised, such as displaying new prices alongside crossed-out old prices in a non-compliant manner.

The Commission plans to increase its presence in the Burgas region and will engage in discussions with the Ministry of Tourism and the hotel industry to ensure fair practices. Inspections will target hotels, restaurants, and other tourist-related businesses to verify categorization, service conditions, and adherence to commercial regulations.
