Bulgaria's CEC receives 17 presidential candidate registrations
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bulgaria has reported that 17 pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates have submitted their registration documents for the upcoming elections scheduled for October 25, 2026.
In preparation for the vote, the CEC has allocated 12,800 voting machines, all of which must be ready by October 15. Following recent changes to the Election Code, the process will rely entirely on machine voting. To prevent long queues, the commission plans to provide two machines at certain locations.
Additionally, the CEC has launched an information campaign to increase voter engagement, focusing on voting at current addresses and using mobile polling stations. The commission also intends to place machines at high-traffic areas, such as universities and schools, to demonstrate the voting process.
