Bulgaria's Commission for Consumer Protection intensifies price inspections
The Bulgarian Commission for Consumer Protection (CCP) has launched a nationwide initiative to identify and prevent unjustified price increases for goods and services. The agency is deploying its full inspection capacity through on-site checks of commercial facilities, online monitoring, and analysis of data from the ‘How Much Does It Cost’ portal.
As of August 9, 2026, the scope of inspections has expanded to include the entertainment, sports, and culture sectors. Targeted businesses include fitness centers, swimming pools, aquaparks, tennis courts, and studios for yoga, dance, and pilates. Additionally, inspectors are monitoring the restaurant and hotel sectors, including fast-food outlets and cafes.
In preparation for the upcoming school year, the CCP is also focusing on the pricing of school supplies, uniforms, backpacks, and educational services such as language courses. The agency is conducting parallel online monitoring of service prices, specifically targeting hair, barber, and cosmetic services, requiring businesses to provide economic justification for any price hikes compared to previous periods.
