Bulgaria's Continue the Change Party Signals Support for Potential Presidential Candidate Andrey Gyurov

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and MP Stoyu Stoev said the Continue the Change (PP) party is prepared to back Andrey Gyurov if he decides to run for president. Stoev indicated that the presidential campaign has already begun and that the party will formally endorse Gyurov once he announces his candidacy, believing he has a strong chance of winning. He also criticized Vice President Ilya Yotov, accusing her of failing to act as a check on the government.

Constitutional Court Chair Pavlina Panova clarified that if President Ilya Yotov were re‑elected this autumn, it would constitute her first presidential term, not a continuation of the current mandate. Panova explained the upcoming 2026 state budget’s legal process, noting that the court can intervene if any budget provisions conflict with the constitution, and outlined who may refer matters to the court.
