Bulgaria's CPC investigates wholesale fuel pricing mechanisms
The Bulgarian Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) has launched an expanded investigation into the wholesale fuel market, requesting detailed data from several major companies. The probe aims to examine the mechanisms behind gasoline and diesel price formation, delivery conditions, and the relationship between wholesale and retail prices.
In addition to previously requested information from Lukoil Bulgaria EOOD and Lukoil Neftohim Burgas AD, the CPC is now demanding data from Saxa OOD, Bent Oil AD, Bulmarket DM EOOD, OMV Bulgaria OOD, Rompetrol Bulgaria EAD, and Insa Oil EOOD. The companies must provide information regarding suppliers, purchase and wholesale prices, import volumes, and the economic components that constitute fuel costs for the period between May 1 and September 28, 2026.
The investigation follows signals received by the anti-monopoly authority and is influenced by the international situation affecting European and Bulgarian markets. The CPC will analyze the link between raw material costs, production expenses, and wholesale prices to determine future regulatory actions under the Law on Protection of Competition.
