Bulgaria’s Eurovision Victory Elevates Singer Dara and Prompts Government Tourism Push

Bulgarian singer Dara won the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest with the track “Bangaranga,” marking Bulgaria’s first victory in the competition. Following the win, she celebrated a birthday on a Greek island and married fellow musician Ervin Ivanov.

Vice‑premier Ivo Hristov said the triumph opens “exceptional opportunities” for Bulgaria’s cultural branding and tourism, noting that preparations are already under way for a possible bid to host Eurovision 2027. He outlined a mixed funding plan of €20‑30 million, drawing on state funds, sponsors and EU media support, and said the Bulgarian National Television will run a national selection for future participants. Hotel bookings in Sofia have risen in anticipation of the event.

Dara’s success is being leveraged as a catalyst for a world tour slated for 2027 and as a showcase of Bulgaria’s modern pop‑folk blend on the international stage.
