Bulgaria's Four Cities Submit Bids to Host Eurovision Song Contest 2027

Four Bulgarian cities—Sofia, Burgas, Plovdiv and Varna—have formally submitted proposals to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, with the application deadline ending on 3 July. The national broadcaster BNT said a working group will assess the bids against European Broadcasting Union criteria and aims to announce the selected host city by the end of July.

Sofia, featuring the Arena Armeec (also known as Arena 8888 Sofia) and the nearby Sofia Tech Park, is widely viewed as the frontrunner because it meets the venue capacity and infrastructure requirements. Burgas also meets the arena requirement, while Plovdiv and Varna would need substantial venue expansions to accommodate the contest.

Bulgaria, the 2026 Eurovision champion with DARA’s “Bangaranga,” will host the world’s largest live‑music event if one of its cities wins the bid, highlighting the country’s recent rise in the competition’s profile.
